Diversions Indie Shopping

This is still mostly a list of music references (since I wrote it up just after getting my piano, and around the time I finally started to make decent sounds on my guitar). Expansion to follow in November and December 2004, along with literary goodies. You book fetishists might want to head to paraethos (see below).

Paraethos is a beautiful site which profiles Canadian writer J B Sclisizzi's indie artist friends (you know, those people who are amazingly talented but seem to be overlooked by the cult of mediocrity). From Mexico to Australia to Canada. Also, some of JBS's own writings and art works. Time well-wasted , as they say.

Gavin Bryars
Is anything more beautiful and melancholic than The Sinking of the Titanic? The exquisite (and official) site of one of my favourite composers. I took up violin because of him.

Hans-Joachim Roedelius
Momenti Felici, where are you? Another of my favourite composers. I think of Sundays in the 90s with my best friend, raining. We're on the sofa, reading and sipping coffee. Momenti Felici. I want you back. update Spring 2004... Momenti Felici found. Many thanks to Joachim for so many things, not the least of which is for being a wonderful correspondent.

Harold Budd
Actually, this doesn't link to anything yet. I don't have Harold Budd's official site found as yet, but if anyone does, let me know: halford[at]rogers.com. And while we're on the subject, if Harold Budd or a friend of his trips across http://www.haroldbudd.com, please be advised that I actually own this domain but will be happy to hand it over or redirect it to Mr. Budd, gratis. I just registered it to keep opportunistic squatters away. The Room and La Bella Vista are my latest favourites.

Another exquisite composer. But I don't know his official site either. But I do own this domain and again, will hand it to him should I figure out how to do so. In the meantime, I encourage everyone to get a copy of Between Tides. I can't quite figure out what Brian Eno's Official Site is, speaking of Enos. How can this family be so talented and produce such beautiful music? When I grow up....

Mmmm. Drumming. Six Pianos. Music for 18 Musicians. Marimbas. Steve Reich is reason number 4 or 5 why I threw it all away to learn to read music so I could grow up and compose some day.

Snevil
What is Snevil? I have no fucking clue, but the site is terrific. Authored by New York writer Marie Mundaca , Snevil offers a portal to her writing, her cat diaries, and links to her NYC Public access shows. A strange and wonderful world.

Bring Your Own Baggage
A new site which I haven't programmed yet (you see a trend here, but it's Christmas and I'm sick as a dog with a lung infection). This will present a compilation of my Matrix stories, and all my dating nightmares. Not for the humorless.
